Sellers
Selling at Southgate Auctions is a really easy process.
Simply bring items into the saleroom for assessment, email us photographs or a free home visit can be arranged.
We take in most items through the door Tue, Wed & Thurs but we can also take in on the other days, it depends on what the items are and the clients’ needs, if in doubt please drop us an email or telephone us.
Unlike many Auction Houses, we can pay out, by cash, cheque or BACS, just a few days after the auction (subject to the Buyer(s) settling).
Do we sell anything?
As we do many Executor clearances we are obliged to sell as much as we can for the benefit of the Estate, therefore there may be items in the sale that we would NOT accept through the door; beds, cookers and such items. If in doubt as to whether your goods are suitable, please ask at reception.
Clearance and valuations
Having many years of experience, we do this type of work with care, consideration and in complete confidence. We first visit the property to evaluate the contents and give a free valuation. We must stress that nothing must be thrown away until we have been able to view the premises in their entirety, this includes the contents of lofts, garages, sheds etc.
Can items be collected?
Yes. But as we charge a collection fee of £30 + VAT per hour (2 men + a van round trip), it is in your interest to bring small items to the rooms.
Where do items come from?
Most of the items we sell are submitted by local residents. We also contract to Banks, Courts, Solicitors, Estate Agents and the like. We are specialists in Executor clearances and are free to advice by appointment.
What do you charge to sell an item?
We charge the seller 20% of the hammer price; £4.00 per lot entry fee, plus VAT on all our charges; there are no extra handling & insurance charges.
How do you pay out?
We can pay cash a few days following the sale, or if preferred we can pay by cheque or BACS (subject to the Buyer(s) settling).
Are items insured?
Absolutely! We have insurance cover for the lower guide price of the goods held on our premises.
When do we accept items?
We take in most items through the door, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9am – 5pm, Friday 9am – 1.00pm, but we can also take in on the other days, it depends on what the items are and the clients’ needs, if in doubt please email or telephone us.
Can you put a reserve price on goods?
Yes, subject to a 10% auctioneers’ discretion.
PLEASE NOTE THAT VAT IS PAYABLE ON ALL OUR CHARGES.
